Kawasaki Station, Railway interchange station in Kawasaki, Japan.

Kawasaki Station is a railway interchange in Ekimae Honchō, Kawasaki, Japan, with three elevated island platforms serving six tracks. The facility is built into a shopping center and connects multiple rail lines.

The station opened on July 10, 1872, as the first intermediate stop on Japan's first railway line between Shinagawa and Yokohama. This early connection helped shape regional transport infrastructure during modernization.

Trains arriving at Platforms 1 and 2 are announced with the melody of 'Ue wo Muite Arukou', a song tied to a famous musician from this city. The tune is part of the everyday travel experience and connects the hub to local musical heritage.

The station serves more than 215,000 passengers daily and offers connections on the Keihin-Tohoku Line, Tokaido Main Line, and Nambu Line. Direct trains to Tokyo run regularly and make the station a major access point for commuters.

The basement of the adjacent More's department store has an escalator with a height difference of only 83.4 centimeters. This unusually shallow construction is a technical curiosity that visitors often overlook.
