Yoro, Mountain town in Gifu Prefecture, Japan

Yoro is a town in Gifu Prefecture situated between the eastern slopes of the Yoro Mountains and the Ibi River plains, featuring diverse landscapes and terrain. The area contains waterfalls, pathways through parks, and natural features that define its geography.

The town was officially established in 1897 during the Meiji reform period as a formally recognized settlement. A major shift occurred in 1954 when it merged with the neighboring Takeda area, creating its current boundaries.

The Legend of Koshi tells of a son who found a miraculous spring near the waterfall and brought its waters to his aging father, a story that shapes how locals view their land. Visitors today encounter this tale woven into the town's character and spiritual identity.

Travelers can arrive via the Yoro Railway line and explore connected pathways that lead through parks and natural areas throughout the town. Comfortable walking shoes are helpful, as much of the experience involves navigating trails and varied terrain.

The Site of Reversible Destiny features nine connected pavilions designed with unconventional architectural ideas that challenge how people typically move through spaces. One structure called the Critical Resemblance House has a roof shaped like Gifu Prefecture itself, a playful reference to the town's location.
