Higashi-ku, Administrative ward in Nagoya, Japan

The Higashi ward extends over 7.71 square kilometers in the central part of Nagoya, making it the smallest among the city's 16 wards.

Following extensive damage during World War II bombings, the ward underwent reconstruction with a new grid pattern layout featuring wider streets for fire prevention.

The ward contains the Aichi Arts Center, Tokugawa Garden, and Yamazaki Mazak Museum of Art, forming a central cultural district within Nagoya.

The ward office, located at Tsutsui 1-chome 7-74, manages administrative services for the population of 82,939 residents spread across the district.

The headquarters of major media organizations, including Tokai Television Broadcasting and NHK Nagoya Broadcasting Station, operate within this ward.
