Nagoya TV Tower, Television tower in Hisaya Ōdori Park, Japan.
Nagoya TV Tower is a steel structure rising 180 meters into the sky, located in the Nishiki district at the edge of Hisaya Ōdori Park. The building includes two observation decks positioned at 90 and 100 meters above ground level, offering views across the city.
Completed in 1954 under architect Tachū Naitō's direction, it was the first consolidated radio broadcasting tower in Japan at that time. The project represented a significant turning point in the development of the nation's broadcast infrastructure.
The tower holds the status of a Registered Tangible Cultural Property and serves as a symbol that locals associate with their city. It shapes the skyline and reminds people daily of Nagoya's modern development.
The tower is reachable via Hisaya-ōdori Station or Sakae Station using public transportation, making arrival straightforward. The path to the observation decks is well marked, and elevators allow easy access to the viewing levels.
The Tower Hotel Nagoya integrates the structural framework into its room designs, making it the first accommodation of this type worldwide. Guests experience an unusual sensation of staying within an iconic structure.
