Nihonmatsu Castle, Hilltop castle in Nihonmatsu, Japan.
The stone walls and restored structures of Nihonmatsu Castle stand at 345 meters above sea level on Mount Hakukigamine, featuring traditional Japanese fortification designs.
Hatakeyama Takakuni established the castle in 1341, which later became the residence of the Niwa clan during the Edo period until its fall in 1868.
The castle grounds include the Senshintei teahouse, a prefectural cultural property relocated from within the original castle during the Meiji period.
Visitors can reach the castle entrance by walking 20 minutes from JR Nihonmatsu Station, with an additional 15-minute walk to the main bailey.
The site transforms into an exhibition space for the Nihonmatsu Chrysanthemum Doll Festival between October and November each year.
