Suzuka Circuit, Motorsport racing track in Suzuka, Japan.
Suzuka Circuit is a motorsport racing track in Suzuka that runs for 5807 meters and stands out for its figure-eight layout with technically demanding corners and long straights. Grandstands are distributed around the course and offer views of different sections, from tight chicanes to wide high-speed zones.
The racing track was designed by John Hugenholtz and built on the initiative of Soichiro Honda to create a new kind of motorsport facility in Japan. Since opening on November 3, 1962, the venue has hosted international races and made its figure-eight shape a trademark of Formula One racing in Asia.
Every autumn the facility becomes a festival of Japanese racing culture, with supporters from across the country filling the grandstands in team colors and waving flags. The close connection to Honda factories and the long tradition with the company have turned the site into a symbol of engineering passion.
Visitors reach the facility by taking a Kintetsu express train from Osaka or Nagoya and then boarding a shuttle bus to the grounds. Comfortable shoes and sun protection are advisable, as the paths between grandstands can be long and many areas are outdoors.
The adjacent leisure center allows visitors to drive electric karts on real track sections and experience the same corners as racing drivers. This direct experience of the famous turns makes a visit special even outside race days.
