Usuki

Usuki is a city in Oita Prefecture on the eastern coast of Kyushu, combining urban areas with rural landscapes. It spans multiple districts where residents live amid a mix of modern infrastructure and traditional structures.

The city was officially established in 1950 and received its current form through administrative changes in 2005. This restructuring brought together multiple communities and created the foundation for the city as it exists today.

The stone Buddha statues from the 12th century show how artistic skill and religious faith shaped the region for centuries. These sculptures still define the character of the place and remind visitors of a deep spiritual tradition.
