Nikaho

Nikaho is a city on the Sea of Japan coast in Akita Prefecture. The city encompasses mountainous terrain, including Mount Chokai, alongside extensive agricultural land and several residential areas.

The Satake clan governed this region during the Edo period. In 2005, the current city formed when three former municipalities merged into one administrative unit.

Ban-gaku, a traditional musical dance form, appears at local festivals in several neighborhoods of the city. These performances reflect the artistic heritage that residents continue to share during seasonal celebrations.

The city has several schools and public facilities serving residents and visitors. Daytime visits work best when shops and services are open and local activity is visible throughout the neighborhoods.

The city functions as an electronics manufacturing hub for the region, hosting numerous factories. This industrial sector shapes the local economy and provides employment for people across the surrounding area.
