Kasai

Kasai is a city in Hyogo Prefecture located on the Harima Plain and covers an area of about 151 square kilometers. Forests dominate the northern section while low mountains characterize the southern landscape.

The area developed during the Edo Period under Tokugawa shogunate control, though one section was administered by the Himeji Domain. This administrative division shaped the region's organization for many decades.

The Tokou-ji Temple hosts an annual New Year gathering featuring Ta-asobi, a traditional ritual dance performed to pray for a good rice harvest. This performance keeps local customs alive and brings the community together through a practice that has endured for many generations.

Visitors can navigate the city using inter-prefecture buses and local community transit services, with taxis also available throughout the area. Private vehicles remain the most common way to get around.

Maruyama Park features an enormous globe clock that marks time against the backdrop of the Harima Plain landscape. This unusual landmark offers a rare glimpse into creative timekeeping integrated into the natural surroundings.
