Kazo, City in Saitama Prefecture, Japan

Kazo is a city in Saitama Prefecture that extends across flat terrain along two rivers and sits at the border of three prefectures. Residential and commercial districts alternate with agricultural fields, while wide roads connect the different neighborhoods together.

Settlement dates back to the Kofun period when burial mounds were constructed that remain visible today in various locations. In 2010, several municipalities merged to form the current city and created a larger administrative unit.

The city gives space to a traditional craft that produces carp kites made from cloth and bamboo. These figures flutter in spring outside many homes and recall family traditions passed down through generations.

The city is easy to traverse by car since the flat landscape simplifies driving and the roads are laid out clearly. Walks along the riverbanks offer visitors a chance to observe everyday life among the residents.

A leading manufacturer of graphics tablets for digital artists and designers established its global headquarters here. The presence of this company gives the city a connection to the international creative industry.
