Itoman, Port city in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan

Located at the southern end of Okinawa Island, Itoman extends across 46 square kilometers of flat tableland with limestone hills and coastal cliffs.

The Battle of Okinawa in 1945 reached its final stage in Itoman, resulting in significant military and civilian casualties during World War II.

The Himeyuri Peace Museum presents artifacts and records from 221 high school students who served as nurses during the Battle of Okinawa.

Regular bus services connect Itoman to Naha Airport, with the Itoman Bus Terminal providing routes to the Peace Park and other locations.

Itoman fishermen historically conducted extensive maritime expeditions, reaching as far as the Indian Ocean, Australia, and New Guinea.
