Osaka Stadium, Baseball stadium in Naniwa-ku, Osaka, Japan
The 31,379-seat stadium features steep interior seating arrangements within its compact architectural design, optimizing space in the urban district of Naniwa-ku.
Constructed in the aftermath of World War II, Osaka Stadium opened its gates on September 12, 1950, becoming the primary venue for the Nankai Hawks baseball team.
The stadium influenced Japanese baseball development by hosting 3,049 professional games until 1990, marking significant moments in the national sport's evolution.
The grounds transformed into Namba Parks shopping complex, where visitors can find the original pitcher's mound and home plate locations on the second floor.
In 1951, this stadium became the first baseball facility in the Kansai region to install night game lighting systems for evening matches.
