Arakawa-ku

Located near the Sumida River, Arakawa district spans 10.16 square kilometers with suburban districts, residential neighborhoods, parks, and industrial zones.

The area transformed from agricultural land in the Edo period to an industrial zone during the Meiji era with factories built along the waterfront.

The Arakawa Furusato Cultural Museum presents local history through exhibitions divided into zones from ancient times to present, displaying archaeological records.

The district connects to central Tokyo through multiple train lines including the Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, Joban Line, and Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line.

The Tokyo Sakura Tram, operating since 1913, runs from Minowabashi through Arakawa as one of only two remaining tram lines in Tokyo.
