Eikyū-ji, Buddhist temple in Taito ward, Tokyo, Japan

The temple features traditional Japanese architecture with a main hall, ornate carvings, stone lanterns, and Buddhist statues throughout its grounds.

Originally established during the Northern and Southern Courts period, the temple changed religious affiliations multiple times before becoming a Tendai Buddhist temple.

The temple functions as the guardian of Mokaki Fudo, one of the Five Colored Fudo temples of Edo, maintaining spiritual practices for local residents.

Located one minute from Exit 3 of Minowa Station on the Hibiya Line, the temple opens daily for visitors to explore its halls and gardens.

The temple name originates from Yamano Eikyu, an execution official who rebuilt the temple to pray for executed prisoners.
