Kogota Station, Railway interchange station in Misato, Japan
Kogota Station is a railway interchange in Misato, Miyagi Prefecture, featuring four tracks and two island platforms. Three rail lines converge here—the Tohoku Main Line, the Ishinomaki Line, and the Rikuu East Line—allowing passengers to transfer between routes heading in different directions.
The station opened on April 16, 1890, as part of the Tohoku Main Line, with the Ishinomaki Line joining in 1912 and the Rikuu East Line in 1913. The gradual addition of these rail connections transformed it into a significant transportation hub for the region.
The station functions as a central transportation point for residents and visitors traveling between Sendai, Matsushima, Fukushima, and Kesennuma regions.
The staffed Midori no Madoguchi ticket office offers ticket purchases and travel information for visitors. Signs clearly mark the entrances and connections between the three lines, making it easy for passengers to find their way to the next train.
The station sits at a strategic location as the eastern terminus of the Rikuu East Line and the western terminus of the Ishinomaki Line. This dual endpoint position makes it a natural turning point for trains operating between the two lines.
