Higashimatsuyama, City in Saitama Prefecture, Japan

Higashimatsuyama extends over 65 square kilometers in central Saitama Prefecture, maintaining a population density of 1,400 persons per square kilometer.

The area transformed from a castle town during the Kamakura period to an official city in 1954, merging several villages under the new municipal system.

The Maruki Gallery houses the Hiroshima Panels collection, while the Takasaka Sculpture Promenade displays 32 works by artist Takada Hiroatsu.

Two stations on the Tobu Tojo Line connect the city to central Tokyo within 44 minutes, complemented by access to the Kanetsu Expressway.

The Japanese Three Day Walking Competition takes place in this city, leading to international partnerships with Wonju in South Korea and Nijmegen in Netherlands.
