Kaisei, Town in Ashigarakami district, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan
Kaisei is a town in Ashigarakami district, Kanagawa prefecture, situated along the eastern bank of the Sakawa River. It borders five surrounding municipalities and serves as a residential community between rural and urban areas.
The area was part of Odawara Domain in Sagami Province during the Edo period. Modern Kaisei formed in 1955 when two villages merged to create the current municipality.
The name Kaisei comes from a school established in 1882 that drew inspiration from Chinese philosophy. This educational legacy remains woven into how locals view their town's identity today.
This area connects to major cities through the Odakyū Odawara Line railway. Several prefectural roads also pass through, making it easy to travel to nearby towns and urban centers.
This is the smallest municipality in Kanagawa Prefecture, covering just a few square kilometers. Despite its tiny size, it maintains full services and infrastructure expected in any town.
