Sakae, Commercial district in Naka-ku, Nagoya, Japan.

The Sakae area extends across 1.42 square kilometers with numerous department stores, underground shopping centers, and the 180-meter Nagoya TV Tower at its center.

The district emerged following Nagoya's establishment in 1612 by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, transforming from castle grounds into a commercial center during the Meiji Restoration period.

The northern section of Hisaya Odori Park features outdoor shopping spaces, restaurants, and regular weekend events that showcase local traditions and modern entertainment.

Visitors can access Sakae through multiple subway lines, including the Higashiyama and Meijo lines, connecting at Sakae Station or Yabacho Station.

The Oasis 21 complex incorporates a water-filled glass roof structure called Water Spaceship, housing a bus terminal and public gathering spaces beneath.
