Mori, Traditional town in Shuchi District, Japan

Mori is a town in western Shizuoka Prefecture situated among forested hills and river valleys that shape its landscape. The town spreads across multiple districts with scattered neighborhoods, agricultural land, and natural areas that define its rural character.

The town was established as an administrative unit in 1889 and grew significantly when five surrounding villages merged into it in 1955. These expansions reflect how Mori developed from a smaller settlement into a larger unified community.

The Okuni Shrine serves as a spiritual center where locals and visitors gather for prayers and seasonal celebrations throughout the year. The shrine's presence shapes daily life and marks important moments in the community's calendar.

The town has schools and local facilities spread across its districts, and some areas are easier to navigate than others depending on your location. Having transportation is useful since the town covers several valleys and neighborhoods that are not always close together.

A history museum housed in a building from 1885 displays everyday objects from different eras of local life. The collection offers a window into how ordinary residents lived and worked across the generations.
