Katsuragi

Katsuragi extends across 151 square kilometers between the Kii Mountains and Izumi Mountains, forming a basin through which the Kinokawa River flows.

The town of Katsuragi emerged from the consolidation of Ito, Myoji, and Miyoshi towns in 1958, followed by the integration of Hanazono village in 2005.

The Niutsuhime Shrine, recognized as both a National Historic Site and World Heritage Site, represents the religious heritage of Katsuragi's mountain setting.

The town maintains five elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools, serving its population of approximately 16,170 residents across 7,137 households.

The region features three distinct waterways: the Kinokawa River in the north, the Kishi River in the south, and the Arita River through the former Hanazono area.
