Miyako, Administrative district in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan
Miyako is a town in the Miyako district of Fukuoka Prefecture located in the northeastern part of the prefecture. It sits across hilly terrain interspersed with valleys and agricultural zones, positioned near Yukuhashi City.
The area served as the provincial capital of ancient Buzen Province, with the Buzen Kokubun-ji temple built in the Toyosu district. The current town structure formed when several communities merged in the early 2000s.
The region maintains traditional Japanese agricultural practices while incorporating modern municipal governance systems through its council of 14 members.
Schools within the town serve the local community with elementary and secondary education. Visitors can explore the area on foot, taking advantage of quiet roads that run between farmland and residential neighborhoods.
The district experienced significant territorial changes in 2006 when Katsuyama, Saigawa, and Toyotsu merged to establish the current town structure.
