Osamu Dazai Memorial Museum

The Osamu Dazai Memorial Museum features 11 rooms on the ground floor and 8 rooms upstairs, built entirely with Hiba cypress wood across 2,200 square meters.

The museum building, constructed in 1907 by wealthy landowner Tsushima Genemon, operated as a ryokan inn from 1950 until the local government acquired it in 1996.

The museum displays 300 artifacts including manuscripts, letters to writer Kawabata Yasunari, and personal items such as Dazai's mantle and traditional hakama clothing.

Located seven minutes from Kanagi Station, the museum opens daily from 9:00 to 17:00, with admission fees of 600 yen for adults and 400 yen for university students.

The structure incorporates architectural elements from the Meiji period and maintains its original wooden features, earning designation as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
