Kamogawa Sea World, Public aquarium in Kamogawa, Japan
Kamogawa Sea World is a public aquarium in Kamogawa featuring multiple zones with marine life exhibits, underwater tunnels and an ocean stadium. The grounds stretch across an extended coastal area and present different ocean regions in separate pavilions.
The aquarium opened its doors on October 1, 1970, developing into a key site for marine education in Chiba Prefecture. Over the decades, the facility expanded its installations and programs for presenting marine habitats.
The facility combines Japanese marine research traditions with interactive programs and presentations about ocean conservation. Visitors experience educational insights into ocean ecosystems while exploring its exhibitions.
During summer performances, visitors receive protective gear and should bring swimwear, goggles and spare clothes for water-intensive shows. The grounds are easy to explore on foot, with enough time needed to cover all areas.
The Ocean Stadium hosts the Tail Burst show, where four orcas perform synchronized movements in a coordinated water display. The animals surface simultaneously and create tall water fountains that can reach the audience.
