Uomizuka Lookout Point

Uomizuka Lookout Point is an observation deck at about 110 meters elevation that overlooks Kamogawa City, Maebaru Beach, and the Pacific Ocean. The site offers parking and free access year-round, making it an easy destination to reach and explore.

The location served as a vantage point for fishermen who used the elevation to spot schools of fish moving along the Japanese coast. This traditional use shows the long connection between the land and sea in this region.

A 6-meter statue called Dawn Breeze by sculptor Ko Hasegawa faces east from the summit to greet the morning sea winds. The sculpture has become a focal point where visitors feel a connection to the location and its role as a local landmark.

The site is open year-round and costs nothing to visit, with parking available on-site for convenient access. Visitors should prepare for changeable coastal weather and wear good footwear, especially when conditions are wet or windy.

Visitors leave symbolic padlocks on the fences near the goddess statue, a tradition referenced in the robot anime series Lagrange. This modern custom links the physical location to its presence in popular culture.
