Ubara Utopia, Coastal hiking trail in Katsuura, Japan
Located within Minami Boso Quasi-National Park, Ubara Utopia features paved and dirt paths leading to multiple lookout points overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The site received its name at the end of the Taisho era when Sugihisa Goto planned to construct a villa in this region of exceptional natural beauty.
Japanese poet Akiko Yosano found creative inspiration in this location, composing numerous works influenced by the surrounding coastal landscapes.
Visitors can reach Ubara Utopia by taking a seven-minute walk from Ubara Station, following marked paths through residential areas and a connecting tunnel.
The site combines elements of a ria-style coast around Cape Myojin with opportunities to observe sunrise over the Pacific Ocean from elevated vantage points.
