Ōyama Senmaida, Terraced rice fields in Kamogawa, Japan.
The Ōyama Senmaida spans 3.2 hectares with 375 ascending steps carved into the mountainside, creating a pattern of small rice paddies at different elevations.
The preservation society initiated a revitalization project in 2008, transforming these agricultural terraces into a recognized site among Japan's top 100 terraced rice fields.
The ownership program enables urban residents to participate in traditional rice cultivation methods while supporting the preservation of agricultural heritage in Japan.
The site office operates from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, except Tuesdays, and visitors can reach it by taking a bus from JR Awa-Kamogawa Station.
Located at the foot of Mount Oyama near the Nagasa Plain, these rice terraces stand as the nearest traditional stepped rice fields to Tokyo.
