Ishidō-ji

The temple complex includes a three-storey stone tower, multiple stone Buddha statues, and numerous gorinto towers along its entrance pathway.

Founded in the late 12th century, this temple holds significant meaning through its connection to Karukaya, who left his family to pursue Buddhist enlightenment.

Inside the temple, visitors will find screens illustrating Buddhist teachings through e-toki, a traditional method of explaining religious doctrine through visual art.

The temple maintains regular visiting hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours until 6:00 PM during the summer months of May through October.

Three stone towers within the temple grounds contain the interred ashes of Karukaya, his son Ishido, and Ishido's mother Chisato.
