Shōsōin, Treasure house in Japan
The Shōsōin is a historic building in Nara, Japan, housing over 9,000 artifacts.
Established in the 8th century, it was originally used to store offerings to the Great Buddha of Todai-ji.
It contains many precious art objects from the Silk Road, reflecting the cultural exchange between Japan and other parts of Asia.
Today, it is managed by the Imperial Household Agency and is open to the public for viewing.
