Okazaki Castle, Japanese castle in Okazaki Park, Japan

The castle structure features three roofs and five interior floors, displaying collections of original castle artifacts, Japanese swords, and traditional armor equipment.

Constructed in 1455 by Saigo Tsugiyori, the fortress gained prominence as the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who later became the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate.

The castle grounds include a dedicated museum that presents exhibitions about Tokugawa Ieyasu and the samurai traditions of the Mikawa region.

Visitors can reach the castle by taking a 15-minute walk from Higashi Okazaki Station, which connects to major transportation hubs in Toyohashi and Nagoya.

Stone foundations discovered in 2007 confirmed that Okazaki Castle ranked among the four largest castles in Japan during its operational period.
