Ōzu Castle

The castle stands on elevated ground beside the Hijikawa River, featuring multiple levels of stone walls and wooden structures in traditional Japanese architecture.

Founded in 1331 by Utsunomiya Toyofusa, the castle underwent multiple reconstructions due to natural disasters before its final restoration in 2004.

The castle holds designation as an Important Cultural Property of Japan and belongs to the distinguished list of 100 Fine Castles of Japan.

Visitors can reach the castle by walking 25 minutes southwest from Iyo-Ozu station, with entry fees of 500 yen for the castle or 800 yen including Garyu Sanso.

The castle transforms into an exclusive overnight accommodation where guests can experience dinner in the tower and breakfast at the historic Garyu Sanso.
