Kōshō-ji, Buddhist temple in Uchiko, Japan.
The temple complex features interconnected halls and gates through corridors, following the architectural style of Eihei-ji temple in Fukui Prefecture.
Founded during the Muromachi period, Kōshō-ji underwent reconstruction in 1808, incorporating large Kusu trees that led to its alternative name, Kusu-ji.
The temple hosts the annual Nehan Matsuri spring festival on March 15, featuring traditional children's processions and ceremonies dating back 250 years.
Visitors can access Kōshō-ji via the Iyotetsu Nanyo Bus to Okakamachi stop, followed by a 9-minute walk, with free parking available for 10 vehicles.
The temple grounds contain one of Japan's largest stone Reclining Buddha statues, measuring 10 meters in length and weighing 200 tons, carved from white granite.
