Imabari Castle

The castle features a seawater moat system measuring 50 to 70 meters wide, with stone walls rising directly from the water's edge.

Todo Takatora constructed Imabari Castle between 1602 and 1607, establishing it as a strategic military base during the early Edo period.

The castle museum displays an extensive collection of samurai artifacts, including armor, traditional weapons, and historical documents from the Imabari domain.

The six-story main tower contains multiple exhibition spaces, with the top floor offering views of the Kurushima Strait and Shimanami Kaido Bridge.

Marine life thrives in the castle moats, where both freshwater and saltwater fish species coexist due to the direct connection with the Seto Inland Sea.
