Koh Ker, Ancient temple in Cambodia

Koh Ker is a remote archaeological site in northern Cambodia.

It was briefly the capital of the Khmer empire between 928 and 944 AD.

The site is dominated by Prasat Thom, a 30 meter tall temple pyramid rising high above the plain and the surrounding forest.

Great care should be taken while visiting due to the minefields laid in the area during the civil war.

Unlike most Angkorian temples, Koh Ker was left to the jungle for nearly a millennium.

Location: Preah Vihear Province
