Ewha Womans University

This institution is a private women's university in Seodaemun District in Seoul, featuring multiple buildings with contemporary design. An underground complex connects the teaching facilities through a central passage that extends beneath the campus grounds.

Mary F. Scranton founded the school in 1886 with just one single student. After 1945, it developed into the first official university in Korea with that status.

The name comes from the Korean word for pear blossom, personally given by Emperor Gojong. This flower appears today as the official symbol across the campus and in administration.

The grounds offer partnerships with 830 institutions in 64 countries, providing international exchange opportunities for students. The facilities serve around 21,600 enrolled students across different academic fields.

The university museum preserves National Treasure Number 107, a white porcelain vessel from the Joseon Dynasty. This collection of Korean artifacts regularly attracts visitors interested in traditional ceramic art.
