Hyochang Park

Hyochang Park is a memorial complex in Yongsan District spanning over 12 hectares with stone monuments, walking paths, and gardens integrated into a maintained landscape. The grounds are laid out clearly to help visitors find their way through the different areas.

The site holds the tombs of independence movement leaders from the 1910 to 1945 period, including Kim Koo and General Hong Beom-do. These figures were central to Korea's resistance efforts during the occupation era.

Traditional Korean architectural design shapes the memorial structures scattered across the grounds, showing influences from the Joseon Dynasty era. Walking through the gardens, visitors notice these classical building principles in every detail of the layout.

Visitors can reach the park through Exit 1 of Hyochang Park Station on Line 6 of the Seoul Metropolitan Subway. The entrance is straightforward to find once you emerge from the station.

The space operates as both an active recreational area and a national cemetery, maintaining memorials for independence fighters who gave their lives. This dual purpose creates a living memorial where people come to walk, rest, and honor those commemorated.
