Byeokchoji Culture Arboretum is a garden and arboretum in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The grounds are divided into about 26 themed sections, mixing Korean and European garden styles, and are filled with sculptures alongside over 1,000 plant species.
Byeokchoji was established as a private cultural and nature project in the rural area around Paju and gradually developed into a publicly accessible arboretum. The site grew alongside Paju's rise as a destination north of Seoul.
Byeokchoji Culture Arboretum is known as a filming location for popular Korean dramas such as "Vincenzo" and "Hotel Del Luna". Visitors who have seen these productions may recognize some corners of the garden right away.
The paths throughout the grounds are flat and easy to walk, making a visit comfortable for people of all ages. The arboretum is open year-round, and each season brings a noticeably different look to the garden.
Although the garden includes sections that look distinctly European, it sits just a short distance from the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. This makes it one of the most northerly visitor destinations of its kind in South Korea.
