Atameken miniature park, Miniature park and open-air museum in Astana, Kazakhstan

Atameken miniature park is an open-air museum in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. It displays over 200 scale models of buildings, natural landscapes, and landmarks from across the country, all arranged on a large map of Kazakhstan laid out on the ground.

The park opened in September 2001, shortly after the country moved its capital to Astana. New models have been added over the years, so the collection today is much larger than it was at the start.

The name Atameken means "Land of the Ancestors" in Kazakh, and the park is built around that idea of connection to the country's roots. Near the miniatures, craftspeople work in workshops making traditional objects, and visitors can watch and buy handmade souvenirs on the spot.

The site is easy to walk through, with paths that guide visitors around all the exhibits. A visit usually takes around two hours, though it can be longer if you take the time to read the signs next to each model.

Next to the miniatures, there is a large arena used for concerts and public events, so visitors who arrive on a celebration day may unexpectedly find a performance in full swing. The park is open year-round, and the models are kept up even in winter, making a cold-weather visit a noticeably different experience from a summer one.
