Bayanaul National Park, National park in Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan.
Bayanaul is a national park in Pavlodar Region in northeastern Kazakhstan that contains mountains, valleys, and three freshwater lakes. The protected area covers more than 68,000 hectares with granite cliffs and dense forests surrounding the lakes.
The national park was established on August 12, 1985, to preserve archaeological sites in northeastern Kazakhstan. These sites provide evidence of ancient settlements and burial grounds in the region.
The three lakes carry names tied to the region, including Toraygir after Kazakh poet Sultanmahmut Toraygirov. Visitors can walk along the shores and watch how local families use the waters for fishing and quiet afternoon gatherings.
The park has designated camping areas, hiking trails, and fishing spots that visitors can use throughout the year. Summer months work best when trails are dry and the lakes are easily accessible.
Erosion has shaped the granite rocks over centuries, leaving patterns and forms that look different in each section of the mountains. Hikers often spot rock formations that resemble animals or faces.
