Norviliškės Castle

Norviliškės Castle, Renaissance castle in Šalčininkai District, Lithuania.

Norviliškės is a stone fortress with a central courtyard, gate tower, and keep arranged in a rectangular layout. The structure sits near the Belarus border and displays a collection of Medieval artifacts within its preserved walls.

The fortress was first recorded in 1586 and belonged to merchant Vaitiekus Šorcas and his wife Countess Darata. In 1617 it was converted into a Franciscan monastery.

The castle displays Renaissance design alongside features from its time as a Franciscan monastery. You can see how the fortress adapted to serve religious purposes through the layout and decoration of its interior spaces.

Visitors must present identification documents and register in advance because the castle lies near the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. Planning your visit ahead will help you complete these requirements smoothly.

The site features a restaurant serving Medieval dishes presented by guides dressed as monks. This dining experience blends history with food, making it memorable way to engage with the religious past.
