Church of St. Johns, Vilnius

The Church of St. Johns features three naves, seven asymmetrical chapels, and a 69-meter tower with five decreasing sections in the historic district of Vilnius.

Construction of the church began in 1388, followed by multiple renovations, including a significant reconstruction from 1738 to 1748 by architect Johann Christoph Glaubitz.

Ten presbytery altars form a semi-circle inside the church, which contains eighteen sculptures on pillars representing different saints named John.

Visitors can enter the Church of St. Johns through the main entrance at Šv. Jono Street 12, with opening hours from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.

The 1827 reconstruction led by architect Karol Podczaszyński required nearly 3,000 cart loads of original Baroque interior materials to be removed from the building.
