Vytautas Magnus University Botanical Garden

Vytautas Magnus University Botanical Garden is a large facility that displays tens of thousands of plant species organized across different sections, including medicinal plants, trees, and systematically arranged collections. The grounds are divided into distinct sectors where each plant grouping is arranged according to scientific principles.

The site was established in 1923 on a former manor estate and developed by Professor Constantin Regel from Tartu, who worked with institutions from Berlin and St. Petersburg. A major greenhouse was completed in 1938, marking an expansion of the garden's infrastructure and growing capabilities.

The garden has served as a teaching space for the university since its creation, connecting students and researchers with living plant collections. Visitors can observe how the space functions as both a study resource and a place where botanical knowledge is actively preserved and shared.

The garden is accessible by several bus routes and located near the city center of Kaunas, making arrival straightforward. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow enough time to walk through the different sections at a relaxed pace.
