Botanical Garden of Vilnius University

The botanical garden spans 199 hectares across two locations, featuring collections of plants from Lithuania and international regions in structured arrangements.

Professor Jean-Emmanuel Gilibert established the garden in 1781, making it one of the oldest scientific botanical institutions in Eastern Europe.

The garden maintains 11,000 different plant species, conducting research in biotechnology, molecular genetics, and ethnobotany while supporting academic programs.

Visitors can access the garden from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 19:30, with weekend hours from 10:00 to 19:30 at Kairenu 43.

The garden incorporates the preserved structures of an old manor estate, complete with a system of ponds integrated into the botanical landscape.
