Vilnius City Municipality

Vilnius City Municipality is the administrative heart of Lithuania's capital, covering a densely built area with multiple districts and neighborhoods. The territory includes both the historic old town and newer residential areas with varied characteristics.

The administrative boundaries took their current form in the mid-20th century and have shaped the capital's development since then. The territory was reorganized several times to manage the city's growth as a coherent whole.

The area shows layers of different cultures in its streets and buildings, especially in the older sections where narrow lanes connect historic squares. You can see today how various communities have shaped the space through their presence and daily life.

The area is connected by a dense network of buses and trolleybuses serving all districts. Most neighborhoods are walkable or easily reached by public transport.

The center contains one of Europe's largest surviving medieval old towns with its own distinctive baroque architecture found nowhere else exactly the same way. This style developed from a unique blend of Baltic, Italian, and Eastern influences.
