Church of St. Philip and St. Jacob, Vilnius, Baroque church in Old Town, Vilnius, Lithuania.
The Church of St. Philip and St. Jacob is a brick Baroque building with a large tower located in the Old Town. The tower houses a carillon system with 61 bells ranging in size.
The church was founded in 1624 and was long administered by Dominican monks. After their removal in 1844, they returned only after the Soviet period ended in 1993.
The church holds a revered painting of the Mother of God of Lukiškės, brought here by a general following military conflicts with Moscow. It remains an important place of prayer for many worshippers from the surrounding area.
The church is located in the Old Town on Vasario 16-osios Street and is accessible on most days. Visitors should check current opening hours, as these can vary depending on the season or religious holidays.
Since 2015, a carillon system by the Dutch foundry Royal Eijsbouts rings daily from the tower. The bell concerts play on religious and national holidays.
