Renavas Manor, Manor building in Renavas, Lithuania
Renavas Manor is a neoclassical manor house in northwestern Lithuania, built along the Varduva River. The building has a symmetrical facade with restrained ornamental details typical of the style, and it sits within a park with old trees.
A wooden structure stood on this site from the 1500s before the current stone building was put up in 1833. The von Rönne family, a Baltic German noble family, owned the estate for several generations and shaped much of what you see today.
The library here once served as an important knowledge center for the surrounding region. You can still see how books and documents from the 1800s are arranged throughout the rooms.
The estate now operates as a museum, and visitors can walk through the interior rooms as well as the surrounding park. It is worth setting aside enough time to see both the building and the grounds, which extend along the river.
The park contains one of the thickest fir trees in Lithuania, a specimen that has outlived every chapter of the estate's history. Its size stands out immediately when you walk through the grounds.
