Trijų mergelių tiltas, Pedestrian bridge in Kaunas, Lithuania

Trijų mergelių tiltas is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Nemunas River, linking Panemune Forest to the Griciupis district. The structure rises roughly 32 meters above the water and features separate pathways for those on foot and bicycles.

The bridge was built in 1976 using structural elements that were later repurposed in another river crossing project. The crossing has since been modernized with updated lighting and reinforced railings to improve its condition.

The bridge carries a name rooted in local folklore about three maidens who became mermaids and danced on nearby Maiden Island under moonlight. This story remains part of how residents and visitors experience and remember the place.

The bridge offers safe, well-lit pathways suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists in good condition. Several viewpoint areas along the span allow visitors to pause and observe the river and surrounding landscape.

The bridge passes directly above a major railway line, making it one of the country's highest pedestrian crossings. Looking down from the span, visitors can watch trains pass beneath, creating an unusual sense of height and perspective.
