Aristavėlė manor, dvaras Kėdainių rajone
Aristavėlė manor is a wooden building in the Baroque style, built in the early 1700s with simple but elegant proportions and typical period details. The structure was moved from its original location, reconstructed, and reopened as a museum in 2016 after extensive restoration to preserve both the architecture and its original furnishings.
The manor was founded around 1700 by Mykolas Zabiela and passed through several noble families who maintained its Baroque features over time. During the 20th century, especially under Soviet rule, the building was repurposed and neglected until 1980 when it was transferred to an ethnographic museum and later fully restored.
The manor takes its name from the historical families who inhabited it, reflecting the region's past. The rooms displayed here show how middle-class nobility lived, with original furnishings and everyday objects that reveal their domestic habits and values.
The museum is located in a rural area and is best reached by car. A visit typically takes about one to two hours and is accessible to visitors with basic mobility, as the rooms are arranged to show the historical layout of the house.
The manor was completely dismantled in 1987 and relocated to its current site as a preservation effort, then carefully reconstructed piece by piece. This intensive process demonstrated how skilled craftspeople could restore a historic wooden structure by reassembling it from documented components.
