Church of the Visitation, Šlienava, Catholic church in Šlienava, Lithuania.
The Church of the Visitation is a Catholic church building in Šlienava near Kauno marių, featuring three altars inside its walls. A bell tower was transported from Kampiškiai village in 1961 and now forms a visible part of the structure.
Local villagers built an initial wooden chapel in 1713 as protection against the plague, using traditional wooden pegs and simple construction methods. This original structure marks the beginning of the site's spiritual development.
The church displays artwork by folk artist Kazimieras Škėma, who designed two side altars in 1945 using Lithuanian religious artistic traditions. His work reflects local craftsmanship styles that visitors can discover while exploring the interior.
The church complex includes a parish house built in 2000 with a museum of everyday objects and two meeting halls for community gatherings. Visitors can explore these facilities to learn about local life and parish activities.
A 9-meter tower added in 1999 displays a statue of the Virgin Mary and houses modern religious imagery on the grounds. The churchyard also contains chapels with Stations of the Cross marking 50 years of parish history.
