Septfontaines, Village settlement in Habscht, Luxembourg
Septfontaines is a settlement in the Eisch valley at 267 meters elevation, comprising residential areas surrounded by woodland. The village merged with Hobscheid in 2018 to form the new municipality of Habscht.
Archaeological digs revealed a Roman burial ground with over 200 cremations, accompanied by clay vessels, coins, and writing tools. This evidence shows the area was populated and held importance for centuries.
Residents here maintain local traditions visible in the houses built in the regional style of Canton Capellen, with community events shaping the social rhythm. The village reflects how people in this part of Luxembourg have chosen to live and organize themselves over time.
The settlement is easy to reach by road and sits in a quiet rural setting ideal for exploring on foot. The proximity to forests and open landscapes makes walking through the area straightforward and rewarding.
The Ziegenbrücke stone bridge marks the entrance from Leesbach and forms part of a historical path linking Ansemburg Castle and Simmerschmelz. This route shows how people here have long traveled between different places and connected settlements.
