Oviši lighthouse

Oviši lighthouse is a 33-meter-tall industrial monument on Latvia's coast built with a distinctive double-cylinder design featuring an outer and inner tower. The walls are exceptionally thick, measuring more than half a meter to withstand harsh maritime conditions.

Construction began in 1814 to replace dangerous signal fires that locals used to intentionally wreck ships for plunder. This marked a shift toward safer maritime navigation practices in the region.
